Players also take it in turns to roll the Placement Die and have to additionally follow the conditions imposed it (e.g placing the dinosaur in an empty pen or a pen that does not contain a Tyrannosaurus rex). Players then choose which pen to place the dinosaur in obeying the restrictions the pens have for example, each dinosaur placed in the Meadow of Differences must be different. The basic idea is that players start with a handful of wooden dinosaurs, pick one to keep and then pass the rest on. We have played this quite a bit, but mostly online over the last year or so, but the tactile wooden dino-meeples add a lot to the experience. This is a very light drafting game, a bit like Sushi Go!, but with dinosaurs (because everyone, especially Beige, likes dinosaurs). The clever part is that if players have a run of cards, they only score the lowest, and the fact that some cards are missing encourages players to gamble.

The Brass Lancashire box is packed in a similar way, but here we place the deck tile adjacent to the player boards.ĭue to the thicker player boards included in the Deluxe versions of both games, there is a very small amount of lid lift when the box is packed of approximately 3 mm. This same approach is used for the Deluxe and Retail versions. This fills the box to the top and allows for vertical storage of the game. On top of this place the main game board, followed by the player boards. When clearing the game away and packing the box, the rule book is placed on top of the trays.
The end slot is for the white market marker. Underneath are placed the distant cotton market tiles. The second variant for Brass Lancashire has a card slot that is shallower, to hold just the player aids. Underneath the cards is the tray for the beer barrels, and the merchant tiles are placed in a slot at the end of the tray. The one for Brass Birmingham has a slightly deeper card slot to hold the wild cards and player aids. There is space for all cards to be sleeved. There is a separate tray for the money tokens, with a slot for each denomination. There are two trays for the location & industry tiles, which also have slots for the iron & coal cubes. Each type of industry tiles has it's own slot, allowing them to be organised and quickly allocated to the player boards at the start of the game. The filler trays for the iron clay box have been designed to imitate factory buildings as per the theme of the games.Įach of the trays for the player pieces has one large slot for the character and link tiles, as well as the wooden VP & income markers. The insert provides two trays to hold the iron clay box in place. The game component trays are arranged in two layers. More on this below.Īs mentioned above, the insert works equally well with the Deluxe and Retail versions of either game. There is one tray for the player reference cards and other components which has two build variants, one for each version of the game.
The rules and boards act as a lid on top of the trays. The design provides both efficient storage and improved gameplay.
